Women Security : Are MEN acting towards it ?

-JAYANT MUNDHRA

When was the last day when you opened up the newspaper and there was no news of rapes in the nation? Forget the whole nation. Let’s talk about your state itself. Still, the statistics won’t change. Our society has become so unsafe for the female citizens that no day passes when no daughters are raped in our nation where a DURGA is worshipped as an idol, but countless are simultaneously raped each day. Is this the hypocrisy  with which we are going to achieve the golden target of “ACCHE DIN” ?

I was reading a post on FaceBook page of “Uth Time”, and it was really shocking and horrifying. A Mumbai girl was raped by her  two of her best friends after the birthday party. Who knew that her 21st birthday would give her the scars which won’t  fade off.

Then there was this news in Delhi edition of “The Times Of India”, that another juvenile who is about to turn 18 has raped a 10 year old. It is totally unimaginable, that a girl who may be doesn’t  even knows what intercourse means had to go through such a trauma and enormous pain.

What I don’t understand is that when a person has got atleast one lady in his own life (mother / sister / daughter / wife) , even then how can someone stoop so low?  What is the pleasure that these perverts gain from the pain, screams and cries of some lady/girl ?

I recently went to a Vegetable Market of my city with my close relative(a female). What I observed was that people were  intentionally trying to touch her while passing by. So, this really shook me up. I decided that when the next person tries to do so, I will move forward and come in between her and the pervert. That way he won’t be able to touch her. And, he will also be aware that there is someone with the lady, so it is better to stay away.

How can people be so desperate and cheap that they don’t give a damn about other person’s feeling and sentiments, rather stoop to the lowest order just to live their cheap fantasy?

Also a news that made me wonder was, of a woman being beaten up on the streets and people were not stopping it, rather they were busy filming it. Really!! A woman is being beaten up on the streets, her hair are being notched and she is being slapped again and again, her clothes have toned and the first thing that came to your mind was “Oh my God!! Let’s film it. I would then upload it on YouTube and share how people don’t respect the females in our nation.”

Rapes, eve-teasing, molestation, commenting upon a female, gazing and stalking the females and many other such “lowest of the low order deeds” are eating up the Indian Society. How do we expect PM Modi to bring us to the “ACCHE DIN paradigm”, when almost half of the population is not safe at all, be it a 2-year-old baby or a 90-year-old lady. So, next time you see anything such happening around with any female, stand up against it.

Raise a voice and make some noise. After all, your one noise or an action might save someone’s life from being scarred by the mark of any of the above mentioned cheap deeds.
